Game of Luck

Lucky Brand is one of my favorite stores for jewelry because they have such a variety —and I’m a sucker for their signature turquoise. Over the years I’ve gathered quite the collection of earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets from Lucky Brand, and while looking through them I’ve noticed that some pieces could very well be worn by certain characters on Game of Thrones.

Starting on the left, this bronze necklace reminded me of House Tyrell with its floral and romantic characteristics. Each of the designs is reminiscent of a garden, which would suit the southern-dwelling Tyrell’s. I’ve had this necklace for about three years so it’s become a little dull and discolored, but with a little cleaning it could definitely be worn on Margaery or any other Lady of House Tyrell.

Moving to the right, my immediate reaction was that this necklace could be worn by Cersei Lannister. It just has that Lannister appeal to it because it’s bright gold and it also resembles chain male. It makes sense that it would be worn by a Lannister because this house has fought in many battles, and it also has an intimidating and powerful look to it.

I got these earrings from Lucky Brand a little more than two years ago and they look like they could be from Qarth. Qarth is a unique city across the Narrow Sea, a paradise in the middle of a desert. The turquoise coloring reminds me of Dany’s dress that she wore in Qarth (as discussed here). If the silver in these earrings were gold instead, they would be perfect to wear with her outfit. Thanks to my sister for modeling, the picture on the right provides better lighting and a better idea of what the color looks like.

I’ve hardly touched on the Dothraki clan in this blog, and seeing this bracelet made me regret it. The Dothraki are unlike any House or family in the show because they are horse lords and known as savages and brutes. However, they have such a different lifestyle than the proper Lords and Ladies of Westeros because they are nomadic and constantly roam on their horses. Because of the arid climate across the Narrow Sea, wearing heavy silk, satin or velvet is useless. The Dothraki wear cloth and leather that is suitable to constantly riding horses and moving through rocky dirt and rugged terrain. This Lucky Brand bracelet reminded me of this clan because of its metalwork, leather adjustable cords and utilitarian feel; it is decorative, yet practical.

Roberto Cavalli Evokes Highgarden

Blue Rose NecklaceRed Rose EarringsBlue Rose RingMulticolored Floral Earrings

Wearing these jewels, it’s easy to picture yourself basking in Highgarden, the southern realm of Westeros and home of House Tyrell. The Tyrell’s sigil is a rose which reflects the lush groves, flora and fauna that Highgarden is known for. Their house words are even “Growing Strong,” an obvious nod to their reputable gardens.

This collection of jewelry by Roberto Cavalli evokes the scenery of Highgarden through its floral characteristics and bright coloring. Any of these pieces would look right at home if they were ever worn by Lady Margaery Tyrell. Margaery is famous for wearing many shades of blue gowns and all of these accessories have hints of blue or would compliment the hue. While she is in King’s Landing, these necklaces, rings and earrings would allow her to pay homage to Highgarden while still wearing jewels fit for a future queen.

Although no doubt, this jewelry seems maybe a tad too decadent and colorful given the sometimes dreary feel of the show, it is a modern twist to the Tyrell’s fashion inspired by the descriptions of Highgarden.

Below are some of Margaery’s clothes from Game of Thrones to see how she incorporates the landscape of Highgarden into her wardrobe. Shoutout to Margaery for her dedication to cleavage-bearing blue dresses and wavy half ponytails. You go girl.
